brasserie

Guests receive a warm welcome in our stylish Brasserie. To enjoy a wholesome breakfast, a delicious lunch or a gratifying dinner, prepared with the utmost attention.
Café Luxembourg celebrates the power of tradition and superior modesty: as co-inventor it introduced the highly acclaimed Garnalencroquet of Patisserie Holtkamp to the Amsterdam catering industry. The Bitterbal is also on the menu; the best in town, by the same quality bakery.

location

Spui 24
1012 XA Amsterdam
The Netherlands

Until 1425, the Spui was the southern border of Amsterdam. It had a discharge sluice to siphon the excess water from the canals to the outside water and to prevent flooding from outside. Before the construction of the canal belt, the Spui was drained.
It didn’t stay “dry” for long: In 1670, our neighbor café Hoppe was opened.
Furthermore, the Spui is home to the best bookshop (Athenaeum), the Begijnhof, and the University of Amsterdam (Maagdenhuis anno 1787, originally a Catholic girls’ orphanage).
A stone’s throw away is the charming shopping area ‘de 9 Straatjes’ and the major shopping streets such as Kalverstraat and Leidsestraat.
